It was with heartfelt sadness that we learned of the passing of former Holy Cross teacher Mrs Anne O’ Donnell, earlier this week.

Mrs O’ Donnell was very much loved and respected by staff, students and parents of Scoil na Croise Naofa and will be greatly missed. Mrs O’ Donnell previously taught in neighbouring Scoil Ursula in Blackrock, before joining Holy Cross Boys’ School until her retirement in June 2003.

This week, former colleagues of Anne, along with her many retired colleagues, have been sharing their fond memories. Anne is remembered as a being kind, diligent and loyal colleague with a particular passion for helping those most in need. She was a lady, with a calm and caring demeanour. She had a passion for literacy and even brought a trolley of books from room to room, so that children could access the books easily. She is remembered as having been a great help to younger teachers as they started their teaching careers.

We wish to extend our deepest sympathies to Anne’s children, Ellie, Tom, Sarah, Jessica and Hugh, as well as her siblings, wider family, colleagues and friends.
